For over 30 years the Pinedale Fine Arts Council has teamed up art instructors in both the Pinedale and Big Piney school districts to present week-long visual arts residencies featuring accomplished visual artists.
Our goal is to introduce a new genre of visual art to local students while at the same time complimenting existing art curriculum in the schools. In recent years, these arts residencies have culminated with a Friday night art reception featuring the student work completed during the residency as well as a talk by the visiting artist.
Some of our past visual arts residencies include:
2021: Max Mahn: Printmaking (Pinedale High School)
2019: Shannon Troxler: Encaustic Painting (Pinedale & Big Piney High Schools)
2018: Virginia Moore: Aerial Painting (Pinedale High School)
2016: June Glasson: Quink (Pinedale High School & Middle School)
2015: Shelby Shadwell: Charcoal (Pinedale High School & Middle School, Big Piney High School)
Millenium Arts Award
Every year, PFAC presents The Millenium Arts Award to a Pinedale High School senior for excellence in art. We award the student a cash scholarship as well as a gift certificate to Dick Blick at the school's annual academics award ceremony held prior to graduation.
PHS Photoshop Poster Contest
PFAC teams with the Pinedale High School Photoshop Class and local graphic design studios Boxcar Arts to present the annual PHS Photoshop Poster Contest. Given a theme, student create artwork for an upcoming PFAC event. The winning design is presented a cash prize and all poster entries are printed and hung at Sublette BOCES. See slideshow below for entries from our 2018 poster contest which promoted an upcoming performance by Nashville folk duo Freddy & Francine.
